Treatment Available

If skin cancer is detected, we can perform removal procedures on-site.

A local anaesthetic is used to numb the area, then the cancerous tissue is carefully excised along with a margin of healthy skin.

The incision is closed with stitches, and healing typically progresses well. For larger areas, a skin graft or flap may be required.

Why Skin Checks Matter

Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world—nearly four times higher than Canada, the US and the UK. Two in three Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer by age 70.

The good news? When detected early, skin cancer is highly treatable.

What We Check For

The 3 Main Types of Skin Cancer

  1. Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) – Most common, slow-growing
  2. Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC) – Can spread if untreated
  3. Melanoma – Most serious, requires early detection

Skin cancer can look like many things—from harmless spots to suspicious moles. That’s why professional assessment is essential.

Are You at Risk?

You’re at higher risk if you:

  • Have previously had skin cancer or have a family history of melanoma
  • Have fair skin that burns easily
  • Have a large number of moles
  • Have experienced severe or blistering sunburns
  • Spend significant time outdoors unprotected
  • Have used solariums, sunlamps or sunbeds

There is absolutely no obligation to proceed with treatment.

When to Book a Skin Check

See us if you notice:

  • A new spot that looks different from others around it
  • A mole or freckle that has changed in shape, size or colour
  • A sore that doesn’t heal
  • Any skin spot that concerns you

Dr Singh recommends a full body skin check at least once a year. Higher risk patients may need more frequent checks.
