Caring for our community since 1986
For over three decades, we’ve been a trusted part of the local community. We’re not a corporate medical centre — we’re a practice built on relationships, where independent GPs take the time to truly know their patients.
Our doctors are experienced Fellows of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, and many of our patients have been with us for years. We’ve cared for multiple generations of Balwyn families, providing continuity of care that makes a real difference to long-term health.

Balwyn Health Care’s History
How We Started
The Balwyn Health Care clinic has been supporting independent doctors since 1986, when it first opened at a site opposite Coles on the corner of Kilby and Burke Roads.
Move to Belmore Road
As the practice grew, it became clear that a larger site was needed. In 1991, the clinic relocated to its current location on Belmore Road, offering significantly more car parking and a light, spacious waiting room. The clinic was completely rebuilt in 2012 to meet modern healthcare standards.

Growing Medical Team
Dr Mary-Anne Lancaster joined the clinic in 1991 and quickly developed a significant patient base. Over the years, more independent doctors have joined the practice.
In April 2013, the doctors of Kilby Heights Medical Centre (Doctors Savvas, Kondopoulos and Cocotis) moved to this site. In October 2024, Drs Edward Tsui and Jane Froster from the Clinic Bulleen also commenced practice at Belmore Road.
The Team Today
Today, the clinic has over 20 personnel, including:
Reception Team: Kitsa, Gina, Kristin, Lindy, Val, Vasso and Kellie
Practice Nurses: Julia, Jane, Ellie and Sarah
Our reception team undergo regular training to assist appropriately with every patient enquiry.
Quality & Accreditation
Balwyn Health Care became fully accredited by AGPAL (Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited) in 2001, ensuring all independent doctors, nurses and receptionists offer a high standard of medical care.
